English: This brand new Pilatus PC-6 Turbo Porter aircraft, flown by army pilots of 161 reconnaissance Flight (161 Recce Flight, attached to 547 Signal Troop, South Vietnam, has been fitted out with Aerial Direction Finding Equipment (ADFE). The aircraft is designed to operate from unprepared strips and has short take off and landing (STOL) characteristics. The first three aircraft deployed to South Vietnam arrived on 28 November 1969 aboard HMAS Sydney and were numbered A14-680, A14-681 and A14-686, which was later shot down near Binh Ba, killing both aircrew. Three other aircraft arrived in South Vietnam between December 1969 and May 1970 which were numbered A14-690 (to replace A14-686), A14-692 and A14-701. The number of this particular aircraft is not known and the person sitting inside is unidentified. The aircraft A14-690 is now part of the National Collection held by the Australian War Memorial.
